If your contacts have expressed a desire to unsubscribe or 'opt-out' from your bulk email or SMS messages you can set this in Chameleon-i automatically by inserting an opt-out option in the emails you send.
Chameleon-i recommends you provide a clear and easy unsubscribe or ‘opt-out’ option in all your outgoing emails.
- Insert the placeholder [[unsubscribelink.text]] into your email message or template.
- Complete the email wizard action or bulk email to send the email.
- The recipient will receive your email with an unsubscribe link. If they click the unsubscribe link they are taken to a webpage where they confirm their removal from future bulk emails.
The correct syntax for the unsubscribe link is [[unsubscribelink.your text]] – when the mail is sent this will be replaced with a hyperlink to the unsubscribe page with your text inserted.
For example - [[unsubscribelink. Don't send me any more emails]] will be translated to 'Don't send me any more emails'.
If the recipient clicks the link the unsubscribe tickbox is ticked in their contact record and this contact will the automatically be excluded from any future bulk emails you send from the system.
NOTE: We strongly recommend that the unsubscribe link is placed in all bulk email templates and it is also good practice to include it in your email signature. Spam filters often look for the presence of an unsubscribe link and omitting it increases the likelihood of your emails being marked as spam.
