Troubleshooting basic issues when trying to send emails via your SMTP relay.
Firstly check that you have your SMTP details stored correctly within your User profile.
- Go to 'Admin' Section of Chameleon-i.
- 'Users' tab
- Select the 'User' from the drop down
- Press the 'SMTP Send Mail Settings' button
- Within the pop-up, check your details are entered
- Press 'Test Settings' button to check they are correctly stored.
This will send you a test email to confirm that your SMTP relay is working and stored correctly. If you have an error message when one element is incorrect, usually it will be your password.
Blocked SMTP relays!
Most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will allow Chameleon-i to send emails without issue. However, there are a small minority of ISPs who may block our servers to restrict email transmission.
If you are experiencing difficulties sending e-mails, please ensure your ISP has not blocked our ability to send emails on your behalf. You may also need to request that they allow our IP address to connect with their servers. If this is the case our IP address is 173.212.252.15
Why would they have us blocked?
When using Chameleon-i you are able to perform a variety of functions that in other software packages you wouldn't be able to, such as bulk email sending. When you send a large volume of mail, it puts more stress on your ISP as there is simply more data to process. Because of this, as a precaution, an ISP will infringe a 'cap', when this cap is hit it automatically blocks the source of the data - in this case, Chameleon-i.
